Australia Awards Scholarships

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade administers Australia Awards Scholarships, which are long-term awards. They want to help Australia’s partner countries meet their development needs in accordance with bilateral and regional agreements. They allow people from developing countries, especially those in the Indo-Pacific region, to study full-time at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. Individuals’ skills and expertise are developed as a result of the study and research opportunities offered by Australia Awards Scholarships, allowing them to drive change and contribute to growth in their own countries.

Scholarship benefits

Scholarships from Australia Awards are awarded for the minimum amount of time required to complete the academic program prescribed by the Australian higher education institution, including any preparatory preparation. In general, the following advantages apply:

  1. Full tuition fees
  2. Return air travel–payment of a single round-trip economy class ticket to and from Australia along the most direct route; establishment allowance
  3. A one-time payment to help with living costs, textbooks, and research materials.
    Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE)
  4. A fortnightly payment to cover basic living expenses set by the department.
    Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award Introductory Academic Program (IAP)
  5. A mandatory program prior to the start of formal academic studies that covers knowledge on living and studying in Australia (for award holder only)
  6. Ensures that the scholar’s basic medical expenses are covered (with the exception of pre-existing conditions)
  7. Fees for pre-course English (PCE)–if applicable PCE may be required for students for in-country and/or in-Australia preparation, as well as additional academic support to ensure academic achievement or improve academic experience.
    For qualified research students, fieldwork (for research awards and Masters by coursework with a research aspect where fieldwork is required) may be available for one return economy class airfare to their country of citizenship or within Australia.

Rotary International Scholarships

By funding undergraduate and graduate research applicants, the Rotary Foundation and clubs invest in our future leaders and philanthropists. There are usually two types of scholarships available: 1. Rotary club scholarship and 2. Rotary foundation scholarships.

Scholarships can last anywhere from one to four years and cover the entirety of a degree program. Cash or District Designated Funds are used to finance global grant scholarships, which are matched by the World Fund.

District grants may be used to fund high school, undergraduate, or doctoral students studying any subject locally or internationally. The scholarship can be used for anything from a six-week language course to a year or more of university study.

Sydney Scholars Awards

Outstanding Year 12 students are eligible for a $6000 scholarship to pursue an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney.

Eligibility: Applicant must be:

  1. A New Zealand citizen or a foreign student who has recently completed an International Baccalaureate (or educational award equivalent to the HSC)
  2. Have an ATAR of 95 or higher and are applying for admission through UAC (if you are applying to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music or the Sydney Dental School you must receive an ATAR of 90 or above)
  3. Apply in the year after your secondary education is completed (if you are offered a Sydney Scholars Award, you may defer it for up to two years).

The Bruton Educational Trust Scholarship

For students enrolled in a degree that is important to and beneficial to Australia’s rural population. Both undergraduate and postgraduate awards are given out. The scholarship value is $10,000.

Requirements for undergraduate

Applicant must be:

  1. Intend to begin your studies in the year of offer by enrolling in a relevant undergraduate degree or combined degree that is relevant to, and will have the capacity to benefit, the rural community.
  2. Have completed your HSC at an Australian high school that is located more than 100km from the main Quadrangle at the University or from the administrative offices at the Australian National University.
  3. Demonstrate a lack of financial resources

Deans Undergraduate Scholarships

This scholarship supports high-achieving foreign students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the Business School.

Eligibility

Qualified applicant must:

  1. Get a high school diploma that is recognized
  2. Meet admission and language criteria with an outstanding ATAR or equivalent
  3. Be beginning an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney Business School, or have completed a Foundation Program with a minimum WAM of 90 and been accepted into an undergraduate coursework degree at the school.

Note: Students who have already begun tertiary education or who are transitioning with credit exemptions or advanced standing are not eligible.
