Once you’ve selected Undergraduate as your degree program type, choose one of three ways to apply: Apply Now or APPLY ONLINE (if you have already begun filling out our online form), Apply Now VIA THE WEB (if you plan on applying via our downloadable paper application), or Apply by Mail (if you prefer sending us an official paper copy of your completed application).

Once again, we recommend using our online method of applying because it will save time and effort in completing all required components while also reducing errors that could delay processing.

Schedule SAT or ACT Test.

  • Schedule the test early. You will need to take either an SAT or ACT test before you can apply. You can register for either of these tests online, but you should register at least three months in advance of the date that you want to take it, since there are limited seats available and many people apply during this time frame. If you are taking the SAT, it is advisable that you take it prior to October as this is when most students apply for college admission. The tests are not required for international students or those who have already attended another post-secondary institution.*

Submit Essay (Optional).

The essay is optional, but it’s a great way to showcase your personality. If you choose to submit an essay, it should be no more than 500 words in length and should reflect your interests, goals and experiences.

Complete Financial Aid Application.

You’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form by providing your parents’ income and tax information. You can fill out the FAFSA online, but you may want to consider printing it out and filling it in by hand. High Point University will use this information to determine how much financial aid you qualify for, so be sure that everything is filled out correctly.

If possible, apply for financial aid early! It’s best if you do this before applying to High Point University because it will help ensure that all of your documents are submitted on time. If possible, try applying at least three months before classes begin so there are no surprises later on down the line — after all: deadlines aren’t forgiving!
