Students who meet the minimum qualifications for admission to Middle Tennessee State University’s online degree programs will receive an acceptance letter. The requirements for admission include:

High school diploma or GED certificate

Sufficient ACT or SAT scores (those who do not meet this requirement can submit a portfolio review in lieu of test scores)

How to apply for mtsu online degrees

  • To apply for MTSU Online, you will need to do the following:
  • Apply for admission.
  • Pay your application fee.
  • Request that your official transcripts be sent to MTSU from all colleges and universities attended. (Note: Official transcripts are required to determine transferable credit.)
  • Submit proof of English proficiency if you are an international student or if English is not your first language.

 

Study Online

To study online, you have to follow certain steps:

  • Make sure that the university/college that you want to attend is accredited.
  • Apply for admission and take note of application deadlines.
  • Take any entrance examinations required by your program of choice.
  • Submit all relevant documents such as transcripts and letters of recommendation to the campus admissions office or designated website; pay applicable fees; and wait for a response from the university.

For the fifth year running, Middle Tennessee State University is the No. 1 choice for students in the state and a top-25 school nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges 2018” guidebook, released Sept. 12.

The university ranks No. 21 among all public regional universities in the South and No. 81 among all regional universities in that category — public or private — out of a total 469 such schools surveyed by U.S News & World Report’s annual guidebook (www.usnewsuniversitydirectory.com). Since 2013, MTSU has been ranked as the nation’s number one provider of online graduate degree programs for veterans by U.S News & World Report.

Location

You should consider the location of a college before moving there.

MTSU is located in Murfreesboro, TN, which is about 35 miles outside of Nashville, TN. Murfreesboro is a city with a population of around 130,000 and Nashville has a population of over 700,000. MTSU’s campus is located just west of downtown Murfreesboro.

Getting around from MTSU to other locations in Tennessee is pretty easy as the airport and other major cities are within an hour or two drive from campus. The Nashville International Airport (BNA) is approximately 30 minutes away from the campus via car or shuttle service provided by the university. Other cities such as Memphis (3 hours), Chattanooga (2 hours), Knoxville (2 hours), and Huntsville (4 hours) are easily accessible by car thanks to interstate highways such as I-24, I-40, and I-65 running through Middle Tennessee.

There are many colleges in the state so if you want to visit friends that go to school elsewhere it won’t be too hard unless they go out of state or all the way up into Kentucky where some colleges like Murray State University are located.

MTSU is located just 22 minutes from downtown Nashville, Music City USA, the state capital of Tennessee, with a population of approximately 650,000. The Nashville metropolitan area has an estimated population of 1,500,000. The city and surrounding areas are home to many nationally recognized performing artists as well as major record labels and publishing companies.

Student Life

MTSU is the perfect size college to have the student to faculty ratio at 17:1, ensuring you will get the attention you need from professors. The campus and city of Murfreesboro are a safe place to live and learn, making it easy for all students to feel at home. MTSU offers various student activities, including athletics and student government. There are also over 300 student organizations offered on campus that foster academic, social, cultural and recreational interests as well as service opportunities. Many of our organizations work closely with community agencies in order to serve the needs of our region. There’s something for everyone! Today, MTSU boasts the highest enrollment in its history with more than 24,000 students as of fall 2019 — about 23 percent more students than a decade ago. Students come not only from across Tennessee and the U.S., but from around the world. There’s plenty to do on campus, including joining any number of student organizations; living in university housing; participating in student government and intramural sports; going to Blue Raider athletic events, concerts and special events; or simply having lunch with friends at one of MTSU’s many eateries. There also are opportunities for part-time work on campus and off-campus internships that provide valuable career experience.
