Getting admission into the University is a big deal. This is so because the academic stratosphere is an avalanche of competition for spots to become bonafide students of a particular university. This is why admitted students and undergraduates see it as a big deal when admitted, and rightly so.
Unfortunately, getting admission into the University is just the beginning of the many struggles that come with becoming an undergraduate. Top of that struggle is paying the tuition, making one eligible to receive academic learning for a particular year. This University is renowned for not taking tuition but rather only collects the semester fee to their Students’ Welfare Organization which is tagged at NOK 590.
This applies to both International and Norwegian students. Although the cost of living around the city is pretty high, students can manage well even on a tight budget. Unfortunately, the University of Bergen does not offer scholarships for international students.

Since it’s a state-funded university, University of Oslo undergraduates do not pay tuition but are liable to pay a semester fee of NOK 550, which accounts for their Students’ Foundation welfare. The University provides scholarships for only students on Ph.D./doctorial researches as well as Masters students under the Erasmus, Nordplus, and EEA study grants.

Humboldt-Universität Zu Berlin is notoriously and fondly referred to as the “Mother of all Universities” and was instituted in 1810. The University does not charge tuition for its German, EU, and International students alike, although a semester fee of € 307.09 is to be paid for all their undergraduates (€ 257.09 for exchange students). The Humboldt-Universität Zu Berlin also offers scholarships for a good number of programs through foundations and philanthropic institutions.
6. Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany
The Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany, is a university that believes in educating and shaping young minds in academics by giving them space and freedom to explore their ideas. They offer a wide range of programs in science, arts, humanities, and even medical fields.
The University does not charge tuition for most of their programs, although tuition fees are paid for their master’s in English program. Students are still required to pay €114.50 in student services fees. There is a limited scholarship for International students in the University.
9. Heidelberg University, Germany
The Heidelberg University, Germany, is the oldest in Germany and was founded in the year 1386. The school is regarded as one of the best research institutes in Europe. The school relies on research teaching in developing their students to go on and have promising careers through a well-structured learning routine. Their disciplines range from life and natural sciences, arts, humanities as well as medical fields.
The school does not charge tuition for undergraduate, master’s degree, and Ph.D. programs. Continuous master’s degree program students may attract some special tuition charges to themselves. The University has scholarships for some selected disciplines through the German Academic Exchange service.
10. Technical University of Munich, Germany
The Technical University of Munich offers a range of disciplines that cover engineering, natural and life sciences, and medical sciences. The University is involved in wide research in several areas. The University runs about 160 programs in bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The University is in partnership with over 170 universities globally and is double degree agreement with about 20 other universities.
Apart from a semester fee of € 114.50, the Student Union fee, the Technical University of Munich does not charge tuition for its students. The University offers student study grants to students, which are not limited to students with stellar academic performances.
