Online Computer Science Masters Degree No GRE

If you want to pursue a masters degree in computer science, but you’re intimidated by the prospect of taking the GRE, don’t worry: there are several online masters programs that don’t require it. Also known as the graduate record examination or the GRE revised general test, this is a standardized test administered by the Education Testing Service (ETS) and used to measure students’ aptitude for graduate-level work. The exam is composed of three sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing. However, more and more colleges are recognizing that this is not an exact science for measuring a student’s aptitude for computer science studies. As such, many schools now offer online computer science masters degrees with no GRE required. Here are six excellent options to consider:

Contents

University of Alabama at Birmingham

The University of Alabama at Birmingham offers a Master of Science in Computer Science. This program is offered online to students who have earned their bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.

The GRE is not required for admission to the program, but you will be required to submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities that you have attended. Additionally, you need at least a 3.0 GPA on your last 60 credit hours as an undergraduate student, or as a graduate student if applicable.

The program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

You can apply for admission starting January 2020 if you have completed your undergraduate studies with a GPA above 3.0 on your last 60 credit hours or 30 semester hours (whichever applies).

University of Buffalo

University of Buffalo, also known as SUNY Buffalo, is a public research university in the city of Buffalo, New York. It’s one of the top 3 schools for online computer science master degrees and has been recognized by federal government officials for its excellence in distance learning. The University offers an online Master of Science in Computer Science program without any GRE score requirement or minimum GPA. In addition to having no application fee or GMAT score requirement, this school doesn’t even require you to take placement exams before enrolling in their courses—the only prerequisites are that you are at least 18 years old and have completed some college-level coursework (or an associate degree).

Drexel University

Florida State University

Florida State University provides students with a variety of options for their MS in Computer Science program. The program is offered through the College of Communication and Information (CCI), which also offers an MS in Information Technology degree as well as a Master of Science in Library Science degree. FSU’s online MS in Computer Science (MCSCS) degree can be completed entirely online, but there is some required on-campus coursework – see below for more details!

In addition to the MCSCS program, Florida State University offers several other master’s programs that are designed specifically for working professionals looking to advance their careers. These include Master of Science degrees in Network Security, Digital Forensics & Cybersecurity and Analytics & Artificial Intelligence as well as a Master of Arts degree in Professional Writing & Rhetoric Studies.

Florida State University tuition costs vary depending on where you live (in state versus out) and whether you’re taking undergraduate or graduate level courses; however there are several financial aid options available such as scholarships/grants/loans/work study programs that may help offset some cost burden while still providing high quality education opportunities at competitive pricing points when compared against many other institutions offering similar degrees across both private nonprofit universities like Florida State University along with public ones like Georgia Tech University which offer similar types

Southern New Hampshire University

If you’re interested in earning your master’s degree in computer science, Southern New Hampshire University offers a variety of options. You can earn an online MSCS or choose to attend one of their many campuses. The university also has generous financial aid and scholarship opportunities, so it may be possible for you to make your education affordable.

To apply, visit the university’s website and complete the online application form. If you are going to pursue a masters degree in computer science, you may not have to worry about taking the GRE.

There are two major reasons for this: 1) the GRE is not a required test for all computer science programs and 2) it’s not an essential part of most master’s degree programs in computer science.

If your goal is simply to become more proficient with coding languages like C# and Java or learn how to build mobile apps, then getting your hands dirty with some coding projects will do just fine as far as demonstrating that you have what it takes to succeed at the level of a Master’s program.

Pros of taking the GRE

GRE is an efficient and accurate way to screen applicants

The GRE is a good way for graduate programs to compare applicants from different schools. Most graduate admissions offices require all applicants to take the GRE, so it’s a great way for them to get an accurate sense of how well students will do in grad school. It’s especially useful when deciding between students with similar GPAs and test scores—in that case, consider whether you’d prefer someone who scored higher on the SAT or someone who performed better on their GRE sections.

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is used by most graduate-level institutions in order to evaluate applicants’ qualifications as potential candidates for admission into their programs. It is designed so that everyone can have equal chances of succeeding if they study hard enough beforehand; therefore it makes sense that this exam would be one of many factors considered during the application process rather than being a deciding factor alone.

You can submit your best score

Another advantage to taking the GRE is that you can submit your best score. You can take it multiple times, and if your score improves between tests, you can send that new number to all of your programs.

For example: If you have a great first test score (your first attempt at the test), but aren’t feeling it as much on your second go-round (your second attempt), don’t worry! You can still send the first one! All schools will see both scores, so they know what you did on Day 1 and Day 2. Send in your top performance no matter how many times it takes for now—and then learn from those experiences so that next time around is even better!

The GRE is flexible

The GRE is one of the most flexible standardized tests in existence. There are many ways to take it, and you can choose which method works best for you. Some may test at a computer center, while others might prefer taking the test on paper at home or at a local library. Others still might want to register for an online version of the GRE. Regardless of your learning style, there will be an option that makes sense for you!

Additionally, there are no age restrictions when it comes to taking this exam—you can begin preparing early if you’re concerned about performance anxiety later on in life!

You have the option of taking the GRE in paper form

You may choose to take the GRE in paper form. The paper version of the GRE is offered at two testing centers in each country and is available in a limited number of countries. If you are planning on taking your GRE in paper format, make sure that it is accepted by your program and that they will accept scores from this test. You can only take the GRE once every 21 days; therefore, plan ahead when registering for this option!

The GRE has a greener initiative

You can also help the environment by taking the GRE. The GRE greener initiative is a program to reduce the environmental impact of the exam, and it’s a great way to show that you’re environmentally conscious. If you opt in to this program, your test center will not use paper answer sheets for testing—they’ll use digital ones instead. You’ll receive an email with instructions about how to register your answers electronically during the actual test day, which will also help reduce paper waste at test centers worldwide.

If you take advantage of this greener initiative and decide not to opt out before registering for an upcoming exam date, then when you receive your score report after taking an official GRE exam (whether it’s taken via computer or manually), it will have “GRE Green Score” printed on it with all other scores included as well

You can take practice tests for free.

The GRE is a standardized test, and as such, it’s not possible to take the same test over again. However, there are plenty of options for filling in deficiencies in your knowledge base, and you can get all of these resources completely free.

One excellent resource is ETS’ PowerPrep software, which provides free practice tests for both the computer-based version of the GRE and its paper-based counterpart. You can also find hundreds of additional practice tests online—allowing you to stay on top of what’s happening in college admissions around the world—and even more study guides from high-quality publishers like Princeton Review or McGraw Hill Education

Conclusion

Whether you’ve already started an MS in CS or are considering starting one, don’t let the GRE requirement deter you from pursuing your goals. There are plenty of schools that don’t require this test, so it’s worth researching them—even if you had to take the GRE for some other program. With all the online programs out there, there’s bound to be at least one that will let you in without having taken this exam. Best of luck with your own search!
