With an acceptance rate of 51.6%, Simon Fraser University is a moderately selective university. If you’re an SFU student, you may have noticed that the acceptance rate has been decreasing for the past three years. This is because as the student population at SFU increases, the acceptance rate decreases. The university has grown from just over 30,000 students in 2017 to over 40,000 students by 2022.

What does this mean for future applicants? It means that if you want to study at SFU or any other post-secondary institution in B.C., you will have less competition than someone who applied five years ago — but there will still be plenty of competition! Most importantly though: don’t let this discourage you from applying! You’ll still have many opportunities available through scholarships and bursaries provided by various organizations across Canada (such as OSAP).

SFU Admission Requirements

SFU’s admission requirements are as follows:

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the best applicants, or 2.5 for Canadian applicants
• Minimum SAT scores of 1200 for reading & math, and 1000 for writing for American students/applicants; 98-100 as benchmark across all sections (evidence-based reading and writing, math, and essay)
• Minimum ACT score of 26 composite score
• TOEFL iBT 80; IELTS 6.5; PTE 54; LSAT 148; MCAT 35 raw score

How to Qualify for SFU Admission

To qualify for SFU Admission, you must have at least four years of secondary school. You must also have a minimum of six Grade 12 U-level subjects (or five in the case of a student transferring from another postsecondary institution). If you wish to be considered for admission, you will need to submit additional documents that demonstrate your academic ability.

If you are applying as an international student:

In addition to your high school diploma or equivalent, you must submit English language test results that meet SFU’s requirements and proof of sufficient funds to support yourself while studying here.

Financial Aid and Scholarships at SFU

SFU offers a wide range of scholarships and bursaries. There are also loans and grants available to students who demonstrate financial need. Additionally, SFU has a variety of work study programs that offer students employment opportunities related to their course of study. A student can get part time jobs on campus which are helpful in paying for the tuition fees as well as other expenses like rent, food etc.

Volunteering opportunities are also available at SFU so that students can learn valuable skills such as working in teams or managing projects under tight deadlines in addition to gaining exposure to real world scenarios outside the classroom environment

Tuition Fees of SFU

Tuition fees at SFU are $5,150 per term for domestic students and $18,000 per year for international students. Each semester is considered a separate term.

Graduate tuition costs vary depending on the program of study:

• Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology: Tuition is $2,100 per course plus an additional $125 that goes toward student services fees.
• Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology: Tuition is $3,600 per course plus an additional $125 that goes toward student services fees.

Tuition fees cover only part of your expenses at SFU; you’ll also need to factor in living costs (i.e., rent), books and equipment used during your studies (i.e., computers).

Undergraduate students are required to pay the following fees:

Students can choose from several sports to participate in, such as basketball and hockey leagues.
