Educational Requirements
To be eligible to apply, candidates must have a B.S. in aeronautical engineering or a closely related field such as mechanical or civil engineering from a recognized college in the United States or an accepted institution of higher learning abroad.
Students with backgrounds in fields other than aerospace engineering are rarely admitted to the program. When such students are admitted, however, it is common for them to be required to take non-credit undergraduate courses in their field of interest in order to complete the graduate course prerequisites. Students who do not have an aerospace engineering background should make sure they meet the prerequisites for the graduate program.
Requirement for English Proficiency
For admission, a score of 103 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. Students who want to be considered for teaching assistantships should have a TOEFL Speak section score of at least 24.

Procedures for submitting an application
Please apply for graduate school through the University’s online system. Please read the application guidelines carefully. A checklist is included to assist you in gathering the information and supporting documents you’ll need to complete the application. With the submission of your application, you must pay a nonrefundable application processing fee. This price is non-negotiable. For local candidates, the application fee is $70; for overseas applicants, the charge is $90.

An online application with a CV and a statement of purpose is required. (PLEASE NOTE: Students without a master’s degree should apply to the master’s program regardless of whether they want to pursue a PhD degree afterwards.)
You will be requested to provide scanned copies of your transcripts and degree or diploma certificates in the Educational History portion of the application. Please check your transcripts for legibility after they’ve been uploaded. The name of the university as well as your name must appear on your transcript. Please do not mail a copy of your online application’s credentials.
Please send your résumé and statement of purpose to the Statements portion of the application. The statement of purpose should be 1-2 pages long, single spaced, and 12 point font.
Three letters of recommendation (You must submit your references online.)
ETS provides official GRE general test scores. (The GRE is not required for students applying to the Spring and Fall semesters of 2022.)
For people from countries where English is not the first language, an official TOEFL score is required. (Please note that all students from countries where English is not the first language are required to take the TOEFL test by the Department of Aerospace Engineering.)
Funding paperwork and the Certification of Declaration of Finances form (Documents must be submitted online). Only international candidates are required to submit these documents, and they are only required if no department money is available. At the moment you submit your application, AE does not demand proof of financial means. If you are accepted for admission but do not receive a funding offer, you will be required to show proof of financial means.
