You need to submit the following documents to apply for an undergraduate course at Governors State University (GSU), Illinois:

• Application form
• Official transcripts from all schools attended
• SAT/ACT scores are recommended.

Visit govst.edu/apply and click on the “Apply Now” button. The online admission application will only take a few minutes to complete; however, be sure you have your social security number and a credit or debit card available for payment of the $40 non-refundable fee at the time of submission. The application requires a valid email address as it is used to communicate important information about your admission status. If you do not have an email address, we recommend getting one from Gmail, Yahoo! or other popular providers before beginning this step.

2. Provide documents for GPA calculation

You will also need to provide any documents that can be used to help calculate your GPA, such as transcripts.

3. Submit the SAT/ACT scores

SAT/ACT scores are not mandatory for admission to Governors State University, however, if you elect to submit them, you will be considered for scholarships. If your SAT or ACT scores do not meet the required criteria, you are welcome to take the New Student Assessment Test (NSAT) on campus.

If you choose to submit your SAT or ACT scores for review, submit them directly from the testing agency (CollegeBoard or ACT). Please note that if you have taken the same test multiple times and are submitting additional test scores we will consider all of your test records. The average SAT score of admitted students is 1030; while the average ACT score of admitted students is 20.

Your admission decision will be based on a variety of factors including high school GPA and class rank (if available), rigor of coursework completed at previous institutions, quality and quantity of college credit earned during high school, letters of recommendation and personal essays.

The eligibility criteria for undergraduate admissions at GSU are mentioned below:

All candidates seeking admission to GSU must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent. You will also need to submit SAT and/or ACT scores, unless you are exempt due to your GPA or having earned college credit while in high school. The admissions office has specific testing requirements for transfer students and international students. Those without either a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED) may enroll on an alternative criteria basis but must complete a specific set of coursework within three years of admission before pursuing baccalaureate degrees.

Getting into Governors State University is no easy feat and you will need to set yourself apart with more than just numbers and data. Remember, you should still submit letters of recommendation and any other supplemental essays that may be required by the schools. Graduate Students: You may be considered as a graduate student if you have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Transfer admission requirements

Students who have previously attended a college or university and are now applying to GSU must use the Application for Undergraduate Admission. Transfer applicants who have completed fewer than 24 transferable semester hours of college credit should also submit official high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores. Applicants are required to pay the application fee when submitting their application.

You may apply online or in person at the Office of Admissions. Note that applications submitted after the deadline may not be processed until after classes begin for that term, so you’re encouraged to apply early!

What you need to submit:

• A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (or equivalent).
• All documents required for your program. For most programs, this includes two or three letters of recommendation, a resume or curriculum vitae, and a personal statement. Program-specific requirements are listed in Enrollment Services Forms.
• The application fee. This is non-refundable. If you’re applying for scholarship/financial aid consideration, please also contact the Financial Aid Office to see if you qualify for an application fee waiver.
• International students only: proof of English language proficiency (ELP).

You can take a variety of health and wellness classes at Governors State University. These classes will teach you about anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, exercise science, biology, physics, chemistry … basically everything you need to know about how the human body works.

Not only that—you can get a degree focused on health and wellness! There are four degrees available: Health Sciences Studies (Bachelor’s), Occupational Therapy Assistant (Associate), Physical Therapist Assistant (Associate), or Athletic Training (Master’s).

Finally, make sure to check out the Wellness Center at GSU! In addition to providing medical services for students with disabilities or chronic health conditions that impact their ability to attend school or perform certain tasks like walking up stairs or seeing the chalkboard clearly from the back row of class; they also provide counseling for mental illness.
