On our tour, we witnessed some impressive public speaking, including a very anxious sophomore reciting Antigone and a spirited debate in a senior seminar about educational inequity.
10. High School For Dual Language and Asian Studies
By the time they graduate from the High School for Dual Language and Asian Studies, all pupils should be able to speak, read, and write in both English and Chinese. It is a rigorous academic program in which students must study Mandarin on a daily basis and complete four years of math and science. The four-year graduation rate is virtually flawless, as is attendance.
Some pupils start school at 7:15 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m., making for a lengthy school day.
