How to Apply to Rowan University

Introduction

The first step to getting accepted to Rowan University is applying. You can begin this process by visiting the university’s website and reading its instructions. If you’re applying as a freshman, you’ll need to fill out the Common Application or apply through the Coalition Application—both are free. If you’re transferring from another school, use the Transfer Admissions application instead. After completing your application, submit it electronically through either of these services:

Submit Your Application.

  • Apply online. The application is available through the Common Application. You can begin your application by clicking here, or by going directly to the Rowan University Undergraduate Admissions website and selecting “Apply.”

  • Complete your application in one sitting so that you do not lose any work or information you may have entered previously.

  • Save your work as you progress through each section of the online process so that if you need to take a break for any reason, it will be easy to pick up where you left off without losing any data that has been entered into fields before saving your information.

  • When filling out sections labeled “List all colleges/universities attended” and “List all schools attended within last five years” include every school name even if it was just for one semester or summer session because Rowan requires this information on their applications even if they are not full-time college students at present time (e.g., graduate students).

Write Your Essay.

Now that you’ve had the opportunity to review our application requirements, let’s focus on your essay.

Your essay should be between 500-750 words and tell us about yourself. Describe why you want to study at Rowan University, and how your background, experiences, interests and goals align with our mission.

You may write about any aspect of yourself that would help us get to know you better: anything from your greatest achievement (or failure) to a time when something surprised or inspired you; or an experience that changed the way you think about yourself or others; or even a special place that means a lot to you. The topic is up to you! The only requirement is that it be personal and thoughtful—and important enough for us to use as part of our admissions process this year!

Ask for Letters of Recommendation.

Ask for letters of recommendation from teachers, employers or supervisors who know you well and can speak to your skills and abilities. You should also ask a personal reference, such as a parent or mentor. Whether the person knows you well or not, it’s recommended that you provide them with a list of questions to help guide their response so that it’s relevant to your application.

Get Your Transcripts.

Transcripts are the only way that we can accurately evaluate your academic performance and determine how you will be placed in classes at Rowan. If you have completed high school, please request official transcripts from your high school (you should receive these automatically), as well as any post-secondary institutions you have attended. You may also request transcripts from the school’s registrar’s office or National Student Clearinghouse, if applicable. If you have graduated from high school but did not receive a diploma, please contact your guidance counselor for information on obtaining a GED transcript instead of an HS diploma transcript.

To request official transcripts:

  • Click here to register for an account with the National Student Clearinghouse (via Student Records).

  • After creating an account with NSC, log back into their website and click “Transcript Request” under “Advising Documents”. Follow their instructions on how best to send them a copy of your transcript(s). You should expect it to take up to 10 business days before they receive them and upload them into their system; once this happens, they’ll send you an email letting you know that everything has been received successfully!

Submit Standardized Test Scores.

You will need to submit your SAT or ACT score, or a TOEFL score if you are an international student. Rowan University accepts the following standardized tests: SAT Reasoning Test, ACT Plus Writing Test, and PTE Academic. All three tests have their own websites (linked above), but no matter which test you take, it’s best to register for it at least six weeks in advance of the date that you plan on taking it.

Good luck applying to Rowan University!

Good luck applying to Rowan University! If you’re reading this, it means you’ve probably already started the application process.

There are a few steps to take:

  • Be confident in your application and make sure that it’s as strong as it can be. It’s important that your high school grades and SAT or ACT scores reflect your academic abilities. You should also make sure that you’ve taken challenging courses in high school and have been involved in extra-curricular activities.

  • Apply to several schools so that if one doesn’t accept you, there are others waiting for an opportunity to do so. Don’t just apply right away—work on improving yourself first so when the time comes, they’ll see how much potential is there!

  • Apply early! The earlier one applies, the higher chance they have of getting admitted into their dream school (and maybe even receiving scholarships)! The sooner someone decides on what college they want to go to also helps them save money since many scholarships only last for certain periods of time like six months or one year after graduation (or even less).

How to Apply to Rowan University

Check the deadlines and requirements for your specific program.

  • Check the deadlines and requirements for your specific program.

  • You can visit the Rowan University website to find out more information about applying to the university, including important dates and deadlines.

Take your standardized tests.

You will need to take the SAT or ACT for admission. You can take the SAT or ACT in the spring of your junior year, and again in either May or June of your senior year. A third score is optional, but it is not recommended that you wait until after an offer of admission to take these exams. If you are applying to Rowan University by Early Decision (ED), then one test score is required as part of the application process; however, if you are not applying ED, then two separate scores must be submitted with your application materials by November 1st. If you are taking advantage of our second testing opportunity through our partnership with Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions Assessment Services (KAPLAN) Program and Testing Center at Rowan University:

  • The first exam must be taken between January 1st and April 30th following graduation from high school (must have graduated from high school within previous 12 months).

Get your letters of recommendations.

You will need to submit two letters of recommendation from previous professors or employers. It’s best if they can comment on your work ethic, skills, and aptitude for this program. You may also ask teachers and professors you’ve had in the past, sponsors or supervisors of clubs or volunteer organizations you have participated in, colleagues who have seen your work, and friends who know you well.

If possible, ask someone who is familiar with one of the following: English majors; liberal arts programs; or courses related to economics/business administration.

Fill out the application.

Your application will not be considered complete until all sections of the application are filled out and all requested documents are uploaded. These include:

  • Social Security Number

  • Address

  • Phone number(s)

  • Email address(es)

Set up your Rowan email.

Once you have received your Rowan University student email account, you will be able to begin using it. Your Rowan email is the official account for all students, faculty and staff at Rowan University. It serves as a primary source of communication for all students and is used for official university communications such as upcoming events, class schedules and more.

Submit your application.

Now that you have everything ready to go, it’s time to submit your application. First, go to the Rowan website and click “Apply.” Once there, select “Admission Application” and follow the prompts until you reach a page that contains three sections: tests required, application fee information and insurance information.

In the first section—tests required—you’ll see two different options: “I will take or have taken an SAT exam” or “I will not be taking an SAT exam.” If you are ready to apply without taking an SAT test yet (and we suggest you do this), make sure that box is checked before proceeding with your application.

If you are applying without having taken an ACT/SAT test yet, we recommend waiting until after January 1st so that there’s enough time for both of those exams before March 1st when our deadlines end! We strongly suggest taking these tests in December if possible since they’re more common during this time of year than other times during their semesters which can help raise your chances of getting into difficult majors like Nursing (which requires 3 science APs). If all goes according to plan here then good job! You’ve finished filling out your application form successfully! Now print off a confirmation page so we know exactly what materials have been submitted electronically through our site–this way we won’t need explanations later on when checking whether or not everything needed was sent over correctly by being able keep track ourselves instead through printed versions rather than relying solely on memory alone 😉

Being prepared is half the battle, so start filling out all of your applications now!

Being prepared is half the battle, so start filling out all of your applications now! If you’re looking at a few schools, check out their admission deadlines. There’s nothing worse than waiting until the last minute to apply only to find that you’ve forgotten some form and now have no time to fill it out. I know, because this happened to me during my own college application process.

While there are many different types of academic and extracurricular activities you can participate in during high school, don’t feel like you need every single one on your resume before applying to college. You can always add more while at school if they’re available—or even take classes specifically designed for students who want them!
