NC A&T State University
NC A&T State University is a public, coeducational, historically black university (HBCU) located in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was founded in 1891 as the Agricultural and Technical College of North Carolina. The land-grant institution was established to provide practical learning for African Americans who were excluded from white colleges at that time.
The university offers over 100 bachelor’s degrees with an additional 16 master’s degrees and 15 doctoral degrees through its eight colleges and schools: Agriculture; Architecture & Environmental Design; Arts & Humanities; Business; Engineering Science & Technology; Health & Natural Sciences; Education; and Global Cultural Studies.

Wake Forest University
Wake Forest University is a private, independent, non-profit, nonsectarian, coeducational research university in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Established in 1834 as Wake Forest College by Baptist minister Calvinist John McLeod Campbell and others to train preachers and singers. The first president of the college was Thomas Hines. It is one of only four universities with a complete liberal arts undergraduate program to offer an undergraduate degree in all disciplines (a total of 20) through the traditional four years; other universities include Amherst College, Harvard University, and Princeton University.[2]

Appalachian State University
Appalachian State University is a public university located in Boone, North Carolina, United States. It is the largest university in western North Carolina and the fifth largest university in the state. It was established as a teachers college in 1899 by leaders of what is now Stokes County. As of fall 2017, it had an enrollment of 20,476 students on its main campus with 13,766 undergraduate students and 6800 graduate students.
Duke University
Duke University is a private research university located in Durham, North Carolina, United States. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838 as Brown’s Schoolhouse, the school moved to Durham’s West End neighborhood in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James B. Duke established The Duke Endowment and donated $40 million ($860 million today) to it with instructions to spend the fund for “the general external purposes of education”.

North Carolina Central University
North Carolina Central University is a public, historically black university located in Durham, North Carolina. Founded in 1910 as the National Religious Training School and Chautauqua for the Colored Race and later renamed to become North Carolina College at Durham (NCCD) in 1939, it was chartered by the state legislature on March 7, 1891 as a land-grant institution for African-American students. As of 2010 there were about 8,000 students enrolled at NCCD.
NC Central University is a member of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
Davidson College
Davidson College is a private liberal education institution founded in 1837 by Presbyterians. It’s located in Davidson, North Carolina, and offers over 50 undergraduate majors (and eight graduate programs) across three schools: the College of Arts & Sciences; the School of Business; and The Graduate School.
The college was named after Brigadier General William Lee Davidson, who served as president from 1865–1876 but died before its completion.
High Point University
High Point University is a private university in High Point, North Carolina. Established in 1896 as Guilford College and later renamed as High Point College, it was chartered under its current name in 1956. With over 1,800 students on campus and more than 24,000 alumni worldwide, HPU offers bachelor’s degrees in over 50 undergraduate programs across six schools: Business Administration; Communications and the Arts; Education; Health Sciences; Liberal Arts & Sciences; and Sports & Entertainment Management.
The institution has received several accolades for its quality programs including Tier One status from US News & World Report (2017) due to their high student satisfaction rate as well as ranking #22 on Forbes list of top colleges (2017). Elon University
Elon University is a private liberal arts college located in Elon, North Carolina. The university was founded in 1889 as Elon College by the Christian Connection, a sect of the Disciples of Christ. In 1915, the school was renamed Elon College and given its current name three years later in honor of Thomas Willis White (1913-1916), who served as president from 1913 until his death on January 17, 1916. The university offers more than 100 majors across 15 schools including business administration and economics; criminal justice; education; engineering sciences; humanities and social sciences; Kinesiology & Health Sciences; music performance/education; natural sciences & mathematics; nursing (nursing program); religion studies (program); social work (program); Sustainability Studies major at Green Living Institute).
