AMDA has an acceptance rate of roughly 70 percent. This means that about 30 percent of applicants are admitted annually—a significant number given that AMDA boasts about 25 campuses across North America; this amounts to more than 2,000 full-time students each year. As one might expect from such a large institution offering several different programs (dance studies; musical theater; opera performance), AMDA does not have a single application process for all applicant types: rather than one application form for admission into any given program or major at AMDA’s conservatory-style campus (e.g., “Theatre”), there are separate requirements specific to each major offered by each campus location around North America (e.g., “Dance Studies”).

The Los Angeles campus offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance Theatre with an additional Dance Teacher Training Program option.

If none of these options work for reason(s) such as lack thereof then feel free email us directly instead so we may advise accordingly before submitting anything else via mail (which could delay receipt)!

It was founded by dancer/choreographer Martha Graham and former New York City Ballet principal dancer Mary Wigman as a way to give women professional training opportunities that were denied them at other institutions at that time. Today, AMDA continues this legacy with an expanding curriculum that includes Bachelor’s degrees in Dance Performance & Pedagogy or Acting Studies as well as Master’s degrees in Choreography & Performance or Arts Management.
